Into Yellowstone

We entered Yellowstone from the east entrance and the landscape was unbelievable.  There’s 50 miles in between Cody and the entrance gate to Yellowstone.  And you didn’t know it because you were just captured by the scenery.  We pulled over and had lunch.

After passing through the gate you knew you were at someplace special.  We first came upon Yellowstone Lake.  An all sides of the lake was tremendous greenery, mountains and snow-capped peaks.  Overlooked in most pictures are the thousands of wildflowers.

Of the planned hikes for the day, we did a 1.5miler around a section of the lake.  It was getting late in the day and we drove to Canyon Campground to setup camp.  Paul bought a massive blue tarp to hang over the campsite.  We battled for around an hour to get it up but gave up.

We didn’t eat dinner until 8:15.  But it was one of my camping favorites.  A Hobo Dinner.  We had a campfire and then crashed around 9:30-10.
